I'm proud to announce the Categories for 2011 are:

Returning Categories

General Standardbred Horse Racing (Independent)
Handicapping (Industry)
New Blog
General Thoroughbred Horse Racing (Industry)
General Thoroughbred Horse Racing (independent)

You'll notice that Online Magazine is not back this year along with the Arabian blog category. The reason is that both of the finalists last year where reorganized into something that will now fit into other categories. To answer a couple of questions that might come up Horse Racing Nation is being considered Industry as I believe several of those who founded the site work in the industry. What does this mean? ZATT (Zipse at the Track) will now be competing against the likes of DRF, Bloodhorse, TT and others.

New Catagories

Industry Tweeter- the tweeter can be either a owner, trainer, jockey, writer (must work for an industry magazine and/or newspaper), announcer, farm, and even a horse! At least 65% of the tweets must be about horse racing.

Fan Tweeter- those who are eligible for the Independent Blogs category are eligible for here. At least, 65% of the tweets must be about horse racing.

Podcasts- Since there several podcasts out there, I thought it would be a good time to create a category for it. This is for the show, not specifically the hosts.

We Need An Award Name

Yes HRBA is nice name for the actual award, but I'm looking for something a little bit more snazzy. In order to do that, I'm offically opening up the Horse Racing Bloggers Awards "Name of the Acutal Award". You will be able to nominate a name, I will then chose the top 5 names that I like the best and then a final round of voting. The winner will be the HRBA actual award name. HRBA winners will be announced LIVE on Weds, June 23, 2010 on http://horseracingbloggersawards.net/. The software that will be used is Coveritlive, the announcement will take about 15 minutes as I will be announcing the winners. On Thursday June 24, 2010, a more formal Press Release will be posted along with the percentages which will be also announced on Wensday. I will also announce how you can contact me in order to see the lovely button which is the HRBA profile picture. Once again I would like to thank everyone for particpating in nominations and voting of the 2010 HRBA's.

Just a reminder for everyone, the Finalists Ballot closes next Monday. I have not decided on exact time yet, but more then likely it will be sometime in the late afternoon/early evening. As of right now there have been 44 responces to the finalists ballot. I'm truly humbled by the responce and want to thank everyone for responding.

Wow! It's an honor to be mentioned on Dana Byerly's Green But Game blog in this post (the HRBA's are mentioned at the bottom of the post.) Dana is one half of Hello Race Fans, a new educational site for horse racing fans.

I also want to appologize to everyone for the blog being down for a few hours yesterday. You may or may not have noticed, but we are now using a custom domain. The reason why the blog was down for a few hours yesterday was I was trying to get it to take effect. Unfortanlly, I somehow screwed up. Thanks to Blogger/Google Help though, I was able to fix it and we are now back up and running. Once again I applogize for the downtime.

24 hours and Graphic

There is only 24 hours until nominations for the 2010 HRBA's. I'm really excited with how the nominations are turning out, and hopefully the voting process will go well as well.

Here is a little graphic that I made up, nothing special and it's a bit small.

The catagory that you are a winner in will be listed below.

Finalists will be announced June 4th (I'm actually working on the Press Release which will be avaliable the same day). The final voting will be taking place from June 7-21. The winners will be announced on June 23, as well as how to get this graphic for your blog and/or online magazine. The form for the nominations will go down around 6:00 pm tomorrow night so you have until then to get everything in. Thanks for participating in the first HRBA nominations!

Graphics and updates

I've been getting a few questions about graphics and will there be any. As of right now, the answer is no. The big reason being, I'm a sucky graphic artist. However, I'm working on something and it should be up sometime after in the next few days. It's on the smallish side, so I do appologize for that. It will be up before the finalists are up and ready to go.

Also there is still plenty of time to make nominations: there are two places to find the nomination form.

1. The first way is here on the blog, I created a post and embeded the nomination form.
2. You can find the nomination form by itself as well here.

There's a little over a week to get your nominations in. On May 31st, I'll be closing the form and counting up the nominations to put in a second form that will go live on June 4th. However the finalists will be announced around June 2nd. So keep those nominations coming in, and goodluck to everybody!

Welcome to the Horse Racing Bloggers Awards! What are they exactly? They are a set of awards that are nominated by and selected by readers of these blogs. What do the winner's get? The Right to tell people they are one of the best bloggers on the net. (in other words, bragging rights)

Are there any catagories?
In matter of fact there are, in order to not bunch independent blogs (i.e. people who start a blog because they like horse racing), to indrustry blogs (i.e. blogs run by Bloodhorse and Thoroughbred Times, people who work in the indrustry ect.), those will be sperated into different catagories.
